A Devine Family History

Ann was the daughter of John Gillatly and Charlotte Boyce.   The family moved to Port Adelaide, South Australia in the late 1840s.
John and Charlotte Gillatly had at least seven children that we can confirm.  They were:
1. Ann  born c1844 Hobart Town, died 1928 Sydney NSW
2. John  born 1845 Hobart Town, died 1882 Albury NSW
3. Thomas Horne born 1847 Port Adelaide, died 1856 Port Adelaide
4. Henry born 1852 Port Adelaide, died 1855 Port Adelaide
5. Charlotte born 1854 Port Adelaide, died 1948 Port Adelaide
6. Richard born 1856 Port Adelaide, died 1943 Port Adelaide
7. James born 1860 Port Adelaide
8. William James born 1861 Port Adelaide, died 1861 Port Adelaide


Ann Gillatly appears to be the only child from the family who married and had children.
In 1863 She married James Devine in Port Adelaide and by 1869 had commenced a journey across Australia that would take her to Darwin, Albury and eventually to live out her life in Sydney;  having had 17 children, (13 growing to adulthood) and outliving her husband of 62 years.
